History and Geography
The name Cantaussels is derived from ‘Cantaucèls’, an old Languedocian word meaning « bird song ». Acquired in 1995, the Domaine de Cantaussels is one of the key domains belonging to the Bonfils family.
Surrounded by a magnificent park, this splendid mansion is situated at Servian, near Pézenas, against a backdrop of the Caroux hills. The wines are made on the estate with the modern equipment in the domain’s cellar.
The Vineyard and its Terroir
The soils of Domaine de Cantausels are composed of limestone clay covered with small stones, which forms an excellent terroir for the vines.
The typically Mediterranean climate is hot and dry with an influence from the sea. The property covers 90 hectares mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, and completed with Merlot and Grenache.
