DOMAINES DU LIROU
History and Geography
This 10-hectare domain owes its name to the river Lirou which rises near to Saint-Chinian and later joins the river Orb in Béziers.
Located west of Béziers at the foot of the Cathedral, it was here in these vines, bought at the beginning of the sixties, that Jean-Michel Bonfils commenced his vine-growing career.
This domain is therefore very special for the Bonfils family: a domain to which they remain very attached.
The Vineyard and its Terroir
The terroir is limon and clay soils with a Mediterranean influence.
The climate permits the different grape varieties to express their varietal nature through perfect phenolic and aromatic maturity.
