Château Les Carrasses is a remarkable wine estate with stunning vistas out over the vineyards, stretching beyond the meandering Canal du Midi and the Pyrenees. It has been lovingly transformed into an elegant, secluded retreat, nestled amidst the unspoilt Languedoc countryside.
The Mediterranean-type climate, which is typical throughout the appellation area, is marked by a significantly hot, dry season, mitigated by the effect of the landform. Due to the diversity and unique features of the different areas, major zones have been defined by their weather patterns and soil types.
There is a huge variety of soil types but hard limestone in the garrigue and schist soils are the most widespread. There is also gravel washed down by Languedoc’s rivers.
Grown between the Mediterranean and the mountains, IGP Pays d’Oc varietal wines cover an extensive sun-kissed area from the Camargue to the Vermillion Coast, in the heart of France’s largest wine region which is also renowned for its appellation wines.
